HMS BOUNTY TO VISIT GREENOCK

In 1787, Lieutenant William Bligh and his crew sailed the newly-commissioned HMAV (His Majesty's Armed Vessel) BOUNTY out of Spithead, England on course to the Pacific Island of Otaheite (Tahiti) to procure breadfruits for transplantation in the West Indies.

Over 220 years later, a spectacular re-creation of this magnificent 18th - century three-masted square-rigger will arrive in Scotland, where she will visit to ports Leith and Greenock.

HMS Bounty is to arrive in Edinburgh (Leith Docks at Ocean Terminal) on 2nd September 2009. The ship will be open to the Public from September 3rd through September 6th from 10am to 6 pm. Admittance on board the ship will cease at 5:30

The ship will then sail around Scotland to Arrive in Greenock (Custom House Quay), on the 11th September, the ship will be open to the public from 11am to 5pm (last admittance on board will cease at 4.30pm) on the 12th and 13th September departing Greenock 14th September for Ireland.

The cost for the tours are £7.50 per adult, children and seniors £5.00. A Family ticket is £20 and consists of 2 adults and 2 children, tickets are available at the gangway prior to boarding the ship.

The tour is elf guided and consists of the Weather deck and the Tween deck, You will be be able to go below where all our sail passages have berths as well as where a lot of filming has taken place.

Bounty has been in quite a few films over her 49 years but her most notable ones are "Mutiny on the Bounty"filmed in 1962 with Marlon Brando as well as one of her newest roles in "Pirates of the Caribbean" with Johnny Depp 2 and 3 where she was known as the Merchant Ship "Edinburgh"
